- Lake Texana offers fabulous water recreation, fishing, and a Wildlife Education Center. There is a 600-acre State Park, 300-acre river authority park, marina complex, picnic sites and a full-service camping facility with nature and historic trails and playground.
- The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, with an avian species count of nearly 600, has been called one of the most important birding habitat networks in North America. It offers bird watchers excellent opportunities to observe birds intersecting along two major migration flyways.
- With the largest and deepest bay system on the Texas Gulf Coast, Carancahua Bay and the surrounding area offer superb saltwater fishing and sport fishing. Enjoy bountiful catches of redfish, shark, trout, flounder, pompano, gafftops, whiting, croakers, sheepheads, drum, jack crevalle, Spanish mackerel and the "silver king" of game fish, tarpon.
- Palacios, the "City by the Sea," is a short 10 minute scenic ride away. It is a paradise for hunters and fishermen and is home to the Nature Conservancy of Texas' Mad Island Marsh Preserve. There is golf, sailing, snorkeling, fishing, scuba diving, and more.
- Calhoun, the county seat, is a 15 minute drive away. There are many fine restaurants, parks, golf and the Aransas County Airport.
